So who was Clara Oswin Oswald? For all the guesses...well...she was Clara Oswald. I was wrong on every count.
Clara was just a normal person, who to save the Doctor's life (and technically all of humanity and the universe itself) jumped into his tears (also known as his timeline), thus shattering her into every aspect of the Doctor's life.
So who was Clara Oswald? No one special, just Clara Oswald.
Now, how does John Hurt fit into the Doctor? I'm not even going to hazard a guess on that one.....

Shuffle...
You know how once in a while a movie comes along and when you are done watching it, it's like "wow, that was a good movie..."...
..well such was the case with the recent movie called "Shuffle"...
(Now, if you ever plan to watch it, don't read on - this is one movie you will never guess the end, until the end. I guarantee it. No, I really do. Don't read on and spoil it if you plan to watch it one day - this is the only movie I've seen that you won't know what is going on till the very end...)
OK...if you've read this far, then read on...
Shuffle starts out with a man who is falling asleep, talking to a Psychiatrist...all he knows it that when he falls asleep he wakes up in a different year of his life...sometimes younger, sometimes older. The first memory he has of any age is a memory of 92...then the next 8 years old...and on it goes...
Well, needless to say, he falls asleep while talking to the Psychiatrist and wakes up in another year. These are the only memories he has, but as he jumps from age to age, he can build on the memory before...meaning he doesn't forget when he falls asleep and jumps again...
At some point during this process, he meets a little girl at a wedding (he learns that he is a wedding photographer) and she says "pay attention, someone's life is at stake"...then walks away...
Unable to take notes (every time he falls asleep and wakes up, he can't take anything with him) he begins to take mental notes of similarities and the obvious, looking for clues on who is in need of help. Most of his jumps occur between 8, 26 and 30.
Through this process he deduces that his dad hates his wife, and believes he is going to murder her. He has only one clue about the day she dies...it is the day that she gives him a watch as a gift...which turns out to be (later in the movie) on Christmas night. Lovell (the man's name) does everything to stay with his wife until midnight...but as the end of the day draws to a close, his wife decides to go for a jog with her dog because of an earlier fight with his father.
The dog breaks away, and Grace (his wife) runs into the street and is hit by a car. Lovell rushes her to the hospital where she is in need of life saving surgery...but because of Christmas, the only doctor on staff cannot be found (which turns out to be Lovell's dad). His wife dies, and Lovell forever decides to never speak to his dad again, blaming him for her death.
So Lovell knows he has failed to help the person whom he loved, and that the "jumps" will now stop, since she has died...but they don't.
Lovell continues with the jumps to different ages...finding out he fathered a son after his wife's death, and forever deciding to have no part in his life. Believing now that it was not Grace, but his son that he must save, Lovell makes an effort to reconnect with his now 17 year old sold Kevin, only leading to dire consequences, and making the situation with his son even more estranged.
Having failed both his wife and his son, Lovell is driving down the road when he falls asleep and hits a car head on...
It is there that time stops, and Lovell has an out of body experience. He meets Grace (who died 4 years before) and as they talk, he realizes she was the little girl at the wedding and that it was him (Lovell) that needed saving, because he became so bitter after the death of Grace.
(...and you think this is the end...but no...)
Lovell then jumps back into his body, and survives the crash. From that day forward, he vows to be a better person. He goes on to take medicine to prevent himself from falling asleep, decides to be part of his sons life at an early age, remarries, and has two children. He reconnects with his father and makes him a viable part of his life.

And then the end comes...

Clara is River Song...
So, my latest theory on who Clara Oswin Oswald is (Doctor Who, Season 7)...is River Song.
This is not necessarily a new theory, or even an original theory...many Whovians have already proposed this...however, I think I supply an angle on "why" that no one else has proposed...
River Song, the child of Rory and Amy (Melody Pond...which by the way I guessed before they told in the episode A Good Man Goes to War), does have Tardis Dust in her, and can regenerate like the Doctor. The are the same, yet slightly different, so the laws of physics may not apply exactly the same to both.
So here is my theory...
The Doctor has used it before, The Master also used it when the Doctor first met him? What is it?
The Chameleon Arch...aka...the Pocket Watch...follow me on this...
The Doctor can't figure out who Clara is...everything seems normal. That is exactly how the Master was when they first met...to the Doctor he seemed like a normal human being. If Clara is River Song acting under a Chameleon Arch...the Doctor would not notice unless the Pocket Watch turns up. Supposedly there were only two Chameleon Arches left...the Master had one, which went back with him into the Time War when the Doctor destroyed the White Point Star, and the other one possessed by the Doctor himself, whom he gave to Timothy Latimer.
Living under the Chameleon Arch, some powers of the Doctor remain, even though appearing in human form (i.e., maybe that is why Clara continues to die, but the Doctor finds her alive in another time period).and also keeps the memories of the individual it is hiding (what does Clara continue to say..."..and remember...")
So let's say River Song (who can travel through time with a Vortex Manipulator) somehow got the last Chameleon Arch from Timothy Latimer because she needed to hide?
Yes, I know there are still a lot of unknowns and things aren't quite fully explained...but this is my latest theory...and I am sticking to this one...

The Girl in the Fireplace
So first, the Girl in the Fireplace is probably my second favorite Doctor Who episode...not far behind Vincent and the Doctor.
Such a touching episode...
The Doctor first meets Reinette as a young girl in her bedroom, while he is on a spaceship in the 51st Century looking through her fireplace. It's seems that the crew of the spaceship needs Reinette, but we don't know why, other than they say "she is not ready", leading you to believe it is about her age.
As it turns out, Reinette is actually Madame de Pompadour, the Chief Mistress to Louis XV...
The Doctor is able to visit her world with the turn of the fireplace, a window between the 18th Century and the 51st Century. However, what is only minutes in the world of the Doctor is actually years in the life of Reinette. So the next time the Doctor sees her, she is now 23.
Unable to find out why the Clockwork Droids are waiting to take Reinette, The Doctor looks into her mind, searching the past for clues...while doing so, Reinette also walks among the mind of the Doctor, discerning his loneliness...and asks the Doctor to dance with her (you see, the Doctor does not dance)...
It is again The Doctor visits Reinette in her 37th year, as the Clockwork Druids are coming for her...the age of 37 being what they needed. The fireplace is now gone, and although the Doctor can see the Droids coming for Reinette, he no longer has a door into her world...but only one...a mirror...for which if he goes through, will break the window to his world, forever leaving him stuck in the 18th Century. And so he does...
Saving Reinette and the day...but being stuck forever in another time...except...Reinette remembered the fireplace, and had it moved from her childhood room, to her new room. The Doctor, can in fact, return...and so he does...but not before telling Reinette to go to the window, pick out a star, and he would be back to take her there...
Only, when the Doctor returns, Reinette is dead...having died not long before his arrival...she was 43. Her coffin is taken out on the carriage through the courts of Versailles as the rain falls and King Louis XV looks on (which is actually how it historically occurred)...
So why am I writing this, when we are trying to figure out who Clara Oswin Oswald is?
I'll let you figure it out...but here are the clues...something Reinette said to the Doctor, and the message from her last note...
"A door once opened, may be stepped through in either direction..."

"My dear Doctor: the path has never seemed more slow, and yet I fear I am nearing its end. Reason tells me that you and I are unlikely to meet again, but I think I shall not listen to reason. I have seen the world inside your head and know that all things are possible. Hurry though, my love: my days grow shorter now, and I am so very weak. Godspeed, my lonely angel." - Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson

..or shall we say, who is "Clara Oswin Oswald"?
Moffat actually gives us more clues than we think, you just have to find them. But the clues really don't help...that is the problem. The more clues, the more the puzzle deepens. (Just watch "The Pandorica Opens" and try to wrap your head around that one!)
Clara was born November 23, 1866 and died December 24, 1892. The year may be insignificant (or not), but the date "November 23" is quite significant.
There can be a loose theory that this somehow ties in with the first episode of Doctor Who airing November 23, 1963, but I'd rather believe...
...that the Silver Nemesis is returning. It last appeared in 1988 and returns every 25 years...which means it comes back in 2013. The Silver Nemesis is made of Validium, so it cannot be destroyed. When it dies, it just comes back as another form. The Doctor has been battling it every 25 years (as I understand) since like 1638. So....is the Silver Nemesis actually Clara Oswald? ...is that why she says "run you clever boy, and remember me"?

Quite a mystery is the new companion of the Doctor. To use a phrase the Doctor said himself "...she shouldn't be." How is the "girl twice dead" still alive in another time. Yet another great paradox of the Doctor who series.
Or...is the show really going backwards in time?
The first time the Doctor meets Ms. Oswald, he says he is 1200 years old...but the next time he meets Clara he states that he is only 1000 years old. And in Aslyum of the Daleks, she was a genius, but in The Bells of St. John, she knew nothing about computers...
One could really be pulling at strings here...or has Steven Moffat hidden clues along the way for the past few seasons...much like the "Saxon" references and "Bad Wolf", which spanned more than 3 seasons in some instances if I am correct (all depending on how you look at time travel of course).
So, what is the reference to "The Rose and the Crown"? It must surely be in reference to Rose Tyler. And the "pond" where the Governess fell in and drowned...was frozen until the pond thawed - surely a reference to "Amy Pond". So, I can be quoted here...I don't believe we have seen the last of Amy and Rory.

One may consider Russell T. Davies the best writer of all times (and he is), but let's give credit to Steven Moffat...a few years after Davies departure and his storylines are just as complex and compelling.
So, that begs the question to be ask...what's up with this season?
Or, before we go that far (since this is a show about time travel), were Amy and Rory actually sent back in the same time and place as Manhattan in the 1930s? Yes? Are you SURE? Think about it. Amy and Rory jumped off the roof of Winter's Quay to save themselves - and what did River Song say? That would create a paradox, and it would be as if the place never existed. So, how could the angel have sent Rory and Amy back to the same time and place - it was disappearing from history prior to the Doctor and River Song being (teleported?)
Listen to what Amy wrote the Doctor in her Afterword (link below) - there is not a reference made to confirm they went back to the same time and place. And what does she mean..."...you won't be coming back here for a while..."?

Old Fort Magoon...
This is one of the Waypoints for the War of 1812 game...

Charlie Miles...
So here is Militiaman Number Two..."Charlie Miles". I think I took his name, at least in part, from the "Miles Matheson" character from Revolution. At first I didn't consider where the "Charlie" came from, but just realized (just now!) that "Charlie" is the name of Miles' niece in the show (Charlie is short for "Charlotte" in the series...and no, that does not apply to the miniature!!) Subconsciously I must have put the two names together when coming up with the name!
Which, by the way, Miles Matheson was at one time, part of the Monroe Militia (in the show that is).

The Wooden Bridge...

Here is the completed Huron Base. Originally wanted a rubber "turtle" stamp for this, but since one could not be found, had to hand paint. Actually didn't turn out too bad...

Well, I am on the downhill side. I have, as of today, finished the 7th miniature needed to play "War of 1812"...just five more to go (3 Militia and 2 Indians). What was to be accomplished over Christmas break has turned into quite a project.
Most, if not all of the cards are done for the game. The rules are written (and printed at that...all 20 pages!!)
I still have several of the Waypoints to finish....The Fort Magoon Ruins, Isaac's Well, The Fire Pit, Ichabod's Grave...but all fun to create.
The Huron Base is complete and the first of four bridges done. I believe I only have the Mohican and Delaware base to go. All in good time. Maybe by March...we shall see...

Flags and Waypoints...
So I have finished what I am calling "waypoints" for the War of 1812 game I am creating. The first waypoint is the "Landmark Tree". I've also created the first "base", the "American Militia".

Progress...
So I have finished the first DRAFT of the rules to the War of 1812 game. Not too bad, kind of like them...needs some refinement. Progress.
I have also finished the first round of Missions and Mission Cards, as well as Weather Cards (still need to print all).
However, I only have 3 miniatures that actually qualify as game pieces, and would like at least 8, preferably a dozen, to play a decent game...so a ways to go there...maybe by March.
Working now on Landmark Tree...one of the game markers and Mission point. Also working on the American and British "Bases" (Flags).
Currently I am opening play with choice of American Militia, British Loyalists, French Enlisted, Mohican, and of course Huron.

Below is my 2013 New Year's miniature. Technically he was finished and photographed on New Year's Eve, but not posted until today...thus making him a New Year's Miniature.
This is the second Native American in the War of 1812 collection. I had believed the Native American before him (Quidel Quanah) was my best miniature to date (and it was), but I am now naming this new Native American, Chief Grey Eagle, my new favorite of all my miniatures.
